I’m excited to share that today on the Insurance Committee, we unanimously voted to raise House Bill 6147 An Act Concerning Coverage for Medically Necessary Treatment in this State – the very bill I introduced after hearing about Daniel Pearson’s story. Daniel’s fight against insurance denials for life-saving care opened my eyes to the urgent need for change, and his courage inspired this legislation.

This week was packed with committee meetings and public hearings, and we’re making progress on key issues.

I had the pleasure of attending the Bethel Chamber of Commerce breakfast this morning, hosted by La Zingara. It was an important gathering where we discussed a wide range of issues affecting our community – from electric rates and education funding to the town budget and healthcare.

I’m honored to have been featured on NBC Connecticut, both on TV and in their latest article, to speak out against the reversal of two critical executive orders. These orders had protected individuals from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity in schools, workplaces, and access to healthcare.

Today in the Energy & Technology Committee, we voted to raise a concept bill concerning the combined public benefits charge. This is an important step as we work to bring more transparency and accountability to our electric bills while exploring ways to reduce rates for Connecticut residents.
