Dear Neighbor,

I hope you and your family have been staying cool on these hot days. If you are in need of a cooling center during our extreme heat, call 2-1-1 or visit  211ct.org for a complete list. Here are some tips and resources for extreme heat.

Medicaid Reimbursement Rate Increase

Medicaid reimbursement rates are going up for community health centers across Connecticut. This means more funding for care that helps 440,000 people each year.

What's in the new agreement:

  • $80 million in funding
  • Rolled out over 3 years (by June 2028)
  • Affects 17 community health centers across the state
  • Funding increase starts October 1, 2025.

This is a big win for Connecticut's Medicaid patients and providers.

  • Improving access
  • Keeping care affordable
  • Reducing ER visits and overall health care spending
  • Strengthening the healthcare safety net

These health centers provide primary care, dental, and behavioral health services. They treat anyone, regardless of ability to pay, and are a lifeline for many residents.

Through community health centers, patients can access preventative care, chronic disease management, and mental health services.

We’re putting our values into action. Connecticut is committed to keeping care accessible and affordable for all. With community health centers in every corner of the state, quality care is always within reach.

Environmental Bill signed into law

Taking action to protect Connecticut’s environment. 💚🌱

Governor Lamont signed major climate legislation into law on Tuesday, committing Connecticut to net-zero emissions by 2050, expanding clean energy incentives, and supporting green jobs. The law also strengthens climate resiliency and places restrictions on the use of rat poisons and a class of pesticides known as neonicotinoids.

I’m proud to stand with colleagues and advocates who fought for a cleaner, fairer future. This is a win for our environment, our economy, and our kids.
