Dear Neighbor,

I hope this message finds you and your family well! We are heading into the final days of the 2026 Legislative Session. This week, we passed numerous bills, including state funding for Bridgeport. You can read more about this and other bills passed further down in this message. If you have any questions or if my office can be of assistance to you, please reach out to 860-240-8585 or email me at andre.baker@cga.ct.gov

$25 Million for the City of Bridgeport

This funding reflects the House’s strong commitment to prioritizing education and delivering meaningful assistance to municipalities facing fiscal challenges. Through the focused and sustained advocacy of the Bridgeport House Democratic Legislative Delegation, in collaboration with colleagues across the caucus, this investment will provide much-needed relief to Bridgeport Public Schools and help stabilize the city’s finances.

Bridgeport has been called fiscally irresponsible for years. We say math tells a different story. Additional funding exists through a voluntary state oversight program - a chance to let the numbers speak for themselves.

The delegation extends its sincere appreciation to Speaker Matt Ritter for his leadership in advancing this funding plan, as well as to Governor Ned Lamont for his continued support.

Protecting Residents from Unlawful Funeral Services

The House recently passed HB 5381, An Act Concerning Unlawful Funeral Service Practices. This is another step Connecticut is taking to protect residents from fraudulent practices. HB 5381 puts residents first and protects families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Judicial Branch Scam Warning

The Connecticut Judicial Branch is warning residents about two text message scams aimed at stealing your money and personal information. One falsely claims you have an unpaid traffic citation and must pay immediately. The other alleges that you missed jury duty and owe a penalty. Both are bogus.

The Judicial Branch does not send texts or make calls demanding payment for motor vehicle violations. It does not threaten arrest of missed jury service by text, and it does not use a judge’s name to pressure individuals into paying money.

If you receive one of these messages:

  • Do not respond
  • Do not click on any links
  • Do not provide personal or financial information

Please share this warning with family, friends, and neighbors to help prevent more people from becoming victims.
