The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy has launched Healthscore, a new website created to help consumers save time and money by easily comparing the costs of a procedure and the quality of care.

The opioid crisis has touched every corner of our community, and I am pleased to work with my legislative colleagues, state and local officials on a bipartisan solution.

I am pleased to report that the House of Representatives has taken decisive action to provide assistance to police officers, firefighters, and parole officers – who put their lives on the line for our communities every day.

Hard-working families in Connecticut got a boost the other day when Gov. Lamont signed legislation to increase the state’s minimum wage. I ran for office promising to raise the minimum wage because I believe anyone working a full-time job should earn enough to support themselves and their family. This legislation is a promise I kept, and a step in the right direction to benefit about 42 percent of all workers in Danbury.

Today is a great day for Connecticut. After many hours of debate over the Paid Family Medical Leave legislation, my colleagues and I were able to pass the bill, which the Senate had already approved. The bill now goes to the governor.

With the start of this year’s legislative session, my Democratic colleagues and I in the House of Representatives worked on new legislation as a result of more tragedies and people determined to harm others.

Today was AIDS Awareness Day at the State Capitol, and I was pleased to see members from APEX Community Care in Danbury.

This week, the house took action on a bill I co-sponsored to improve public health. House Bill 7200 seeks to prohibit the sale of cigarettes, tobacco products, electronic delivery systems, and vapor products to anyone under the age of 21.
