Stratford PD Participating in DEA Drug Take Back Day

October 21, 2025

There's a safe way to dispose of unwanted or expired prescription medications, and it's not by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash (please don't do either).

Saturday marks the second of the biannual DEA Drug Take Back Days of 2025. These events allow residents across the state and country to dispose of medications safely and anonymously.

The Stratford Police Department will be participating on Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the police station. If you can't make it on Saturday, remember there's a medication drop box available 24/7 in the SPD lobby.

The last DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day was held in April of this year.

Statistics from the April event:

  • Total Law Enforcement Participation: 4,472
  • Total Collection Sites: 4,590
  • Total Weight Collected:  620,321 lbs. (310Tons)
  • Total Weight All Time: 19,820,761 lbs. (9,910 Tons)
