Let’s welcome 2026! Several laws that passed in the last legislative session took effect on January 1, 2026.

Happy New Year! We had many legislative victories in 2025, and I look forward to building on that success in 2026.

In the spirit of the holiday season, our community is set receive state funding. During their meeting last Thursday, the State Bond Commission approved grants for several statewide projects, including a few based in New Haven:

As we feared, last week, on a party line vote, the U.S. Senate failed to protect your care and extend federal Affordable Care Act subsidies. The GOP killed a Democratic proposal to protect the subsidies for three years. This is devastating for families.

First, good news on our state library - after our litigation, pursuant to court order, Institute of Museum and Library Services grants will be reinstated by the federal government.

We are thankful to call the great State of Connecticut home. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours.

I had a busy and exciting week. On Wednesday, the House of Representatives held a special session. I also participated in a CT-Irish Relations Roundtable with the Irish Consul General.

As part of my broader concern about opportunity, this fall I'm participating in a 'Working Group for the Relief of Connecticut Borrowers.' We're hearing presentations on programs affecting Connecticut students and graduates with higher education debt.
