Dear Neighbor,

I wanted to be sure that you are aware of working beginning in the Beacon Point Area on Monday, November 28.

In conjunction with the Town of Stratford Health Department, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be removing Raymark waste from the upper community parking lot of the Birdseye Marine Complex, the adjacent recreational dock, a large grassy area which spans Birdseye Street and the Tide Harbor Condominiums, and a small area along Beacon Point Road across from the treatment plant.

Raymark Waste is mixture of manufacturing biproducts buried in soil containing varying levels of chemicals including asbestos, lead, copper and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The waste poses no risk when buried, however exposure can happen over time whether because of man-made disruptions or ground surface erosions.

A hybrid meeting of the Raymark Community Advisory Group will be held on Wednesday, November 30 from 6:30PM-8PM. Those wishing to attend online can do so by clicking here, or stop by in-person at the Raymark Cleanup Headquarters (300 Ferry Blvd, Stratford).

For more information on the project, including upcoming virtual public meeting dates, visit the EPA's website, the EPA's Raymark Facebook page, or the Town's Facebook Page

As always, please feel free to reach out to me at the Capitol at 860-842-0363 or email me at Joseph.Gresko@cga.ct.gov.
