Wrong-Way Detection System Installation Planned in Stratford

July 30, 2025

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced that a Wrong-Way Detection System will be installed on I-95 northbound in Stratford at Exit 32, starting on Monday, August 4.

This project, which also includes system installations in Fairfield, Norwalk, Darien, and Stamford, is scheduled for completion on Friday, August 8.

The system uses video cameras to detect vehicles that are traveling in the wrong direction. If a vehicle is detected, wrong-way signs outlined with multiple sets of red lights are activated and begin flashing to alert the driver that they are traveling in the wrong direction. Additionally, the system alerts the CTDOT Highway Operations Center and local State Police Troop barracks in real-time, allowing staff to monitor the activities of the wrong-way driver on the ramp.
