May 24, 2022On Monday, I joined Gov. Ned Lamont, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, Department of Transportation Commissioner Joe Giulietti and local elected officials and community partners Monday at Union Station in New Haven to launch all-electric trains on Shore Line East.
The M8 offers a substantial improvement over older diesel-powered train sets as they emit no carbon emissions and include additional amenities for riders, such as electrical outlets at each seat.

House Approves Juneteenth as a State Holiday
May 6, 2022On the final day of the 2022 legislative session, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed SB 350, recognizing Juneteenth as a state holiday.
The bill now heads to the governor's desk for his signature.
Juneteenth is the oldest known commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. The day is also sometimes called "Juneteenth Independence Day," "Freedom Day," or "Emancipation Day."

State Bond Commission Approves Millions to Support Waterbury Projects
April 1, 2022The State Bond Commission on Thursday approved $2.36 million in bond funds for two projects in Waterbury.
This funding is tremendous news for Waterbury residents and families. I appreciate Governor Lamont for lending his support to this funding, and the Waterbury delegation's unwavering advocacy for our city.
The first project is $870,000 to fund the installation of an elevator adhering to ADA standards at Brass City Charter School.
