A number of new laws that were passed during the 2024 legislative session will go into effect Wednesday, January 1.

From my family to yours, I want to take a moment to send my best wishes for the holiday season. May it bring you and your loved ones peace, happiness and time well spent together. Remember that no matter how we celebrate, we also share many blessings. So, in the spirit of the season, please spread the joy that makes this time of the year truly special.

This weekend is the 12th anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre.

A date that never gets easier. So many lives were affected on this day in 2012, and many continue to struggle with the trauma that followed.

My thoughts are with the victims' families, the survivors of that horrible day, the responding law enforcement and the entire Newtown and Connecticut community. Though time has passed, you will never be forgotten.

Connecticut has made significant progress in strengthening its pension funds for retired state workers and addressing legacy debt, which isn’t just good news for pension holders, but for all taxpayers.

I would like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving! This Thanksgiving, take a moment to reflect on everything you are grateful for in life, and consider how you can give back to your community. May your day be filled with warmth and moments of gratitude surrounded by loved ones.

I want to start off by recognizing November as Native American Heritage Month.

Connecticut’s Native communities have shaped our state’s heritage and continue to lead efforts in cultural preservation, education, and advocacy.

Native American Heritage Month is a time to honor and learn about the cultures, traditions, and histories of Indigenous peoples and celebrate their enduring legacies.

Colder temperatures will soon give way to higher heating bills. November is Heating Assistance Awareness Month in Connecticut, and we are informing residents about several programs available that can help pay or lower their heating bills this winter.

Whether it be state assistance, protection from shutoff service, financial assistance programs, or energy efficiency, there is a plan for everyone.

Monday, November 11 is Veterans Day.

Those who live in freedom will always be grateful to those who helped preserve it. This Veterans Day, to all those who have served and their families, thank you for all you have done for our country. 🇺🇸
