Wrong Way Driver Detection Installations on I-84 in Danbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT is announcing that Wrong Way Driver Detection Installations will be performed on I-84 at Exit 2 eastbound and Exit 8 westbound in Danbury. This project is scheduled to occur on Wednesday, March 12. The project consists of installation of the wrong way driver system on I-84 Eastbound, Exit 2 in Danbury.

Veterans’ Property Tax Exemption

This bill recognizes the sacrifices made by these veterans and aims to ease their financial burden by reducing property tax obligations, allowing them to keep more of their hard-earned income for essential needs.

Special Education Funding

February 25, 2025

Last night, House of Representatives voted to approve an immediate $40 million injection of state funding to cities and towns to support Special Education needs for the current fiscal year. This funding will be allocated through the Excess Cost Grant program and distributed through a tiered reimbursement structure that prioritizes funding for the neediest cities and towns. The City of Danbury's special education funding is set to increase by $384,892. (Please note that these are preliminary numbers and are subject to revision.)

Severe Cold Weather Protocol is Now in Effect

The state’s severe cold weather protocol went into effect on Sunday. It will remain in effect through noon on Friday, January, 24th. During this period, temperatures are expected to remain below freezing throughout the daytime hours, and overnight temperatures are anticipated to drop into the single digits and possibly below zero.
