On Wednesday, I was sworn in at the State Capitol on the first day of the 2025 legislative session in Hartford. I am honored to serve another term and look forward to another successful session!

A number of new laws that were passed during the 2024 legislative session will go into effect Wednesday, January 1.

Exciting news!

Since its launch, Connecticut’s Head Start on Housing pilot program has housed 144 families consisting of 317 children. Specifically, 85 school-aged children and 232 Head Start/Early Head Start aged children have been housed.

Starting January 1, Connecticut college students will be able to benefit from a bill we passed to alleviate student loan debt. The reimbursement program, led by House Democrats and the first of its kind in the nation, provides up to $5,000/year for up to four years (up to $20,000) in loan forgiveness. Six million dollars has been allocated in the current budget cycle and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

A date that never gets easier. So many lives were affected on this day in 2012, and many continue to struggle with the trauma that followed.

Thanks to sound fiscal policies, Connecticut has made significant progress in strengthening its pension funds for retired state workers and addressing legacy debt.

Today, we lost an important figure in Connecticut's history, a great colleague and an even better friend.I had the pleasure of meeting Governor Rell when I was first elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives. She represented Brookfield and Bethal. She quickly became a friend and mentor, as we worked together on issues of joint concern, especially for Western Connecticut.

Colder temperatures will soon give way to higher heating bills. November is Heating Assistance Awareness Month in Connecticut, and I wanted to inform residents about several programs available that can help pay or lower their heating bills this winter.

Whether it be state assistance, protection from shutoff service, financial assistance programs, or energy efficiency, there is a plan for everyone.
