This past week marked a meaningful milestone as I had the privilege of presiding over a session at the Capitol for the first time in my new capacity as Deputy Speaker. It was a powerful and humbling experience, and I’m sincerely thankful for the trust and support shown to me.

A sincere thank you to Speaker Matt Ritter and his exceptional team for support. I will continue using this opportunity to lead with integrity, advocating for the people of New London and all of Connecticut.

This week, the House of Representatives came together in unity, passing HB 6442 — now known as the “Connecticut HERO Act” — with a resounding vote of 146-0-5.

Huge thanks to the Veterans’ & Military Affairs Committee for helping shape this meaningful, bipartisan legislation. The Connecticut HERO Act is more than policy — it’s a promise. Built through collaboration and a shared commitment, this act delivers real support for those who have proudly served our nation.

Saying “thank you for your service” is important — but action matters more. This is how we show our veterans that we have their backs, not just on Veterans Day, but every single day.

Thank you to SEIU District 1199 New England for coming to the Legislative Office Building this month advocating for yourselves, collegues and nieghbors. It is great to stand by you and help support you and the need for livable wages & benifits. Keep up the good fight & good work. Thank you also for the 1199 Mail cards. Great hearing from you.

Big thank you "The Place" and those who were able to make the town hall. We had great discussion on request in regards to Pilot funding, housing, homelessness, parental rights, minors and medical decisions, education funding, juvenile justice and age of arrest. Much more to talk about stay tune for next town hall and upcoming Facebook Live.

I hope you'll join me and State Rep. Aundré Bumgardner next Thursday, April 10 from 6-7:30pm at The Place for Community Wellbeing (74 Garfield Ave., New London) for a legislative town hall. This event is a great opportunity to update you on the legislative session, tell you about our priorities this year, and hear what's on your mind.

New London offers year round schooling. They are working to expand the program.

Kindergarten and first graders at Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School in New London are busy learning basic math.

Just a handful of the 130 students in the district are participating in year-round schooling.

I am so proud, I can not speak highly enough about the youth.

Approximately 25 youth came to the Legislative Office Building to speak on Legislative Bills that will affect them and youth after them. The youth eloquently spoke on data relating to education, low income families, student homelessness and other issues that can and will make it hard for them if adults fail to act in their best interest.

Thank you also to students that traveled to the State Capitol from other regions to share similar concerns.
