Every short session feels like running on a treadmill as someone else increases the speed and incline, and this short session is no different so far. Days are filled with multiple meetings running at the same time as the press conference you hoped to attend and the advocacy briefing you need to pop into before it ends. Already, public hearings and committee meetings are lasting into the night.

As a short session is underway, I want to remind you that there are multiple ways you can "follow along." First, you can always tune in to public hearings, committee meetings, working groups, and task forces, to name a few, at our version of public broadcasting, CT-N.com. Some people find it most effective if they are suffering from insomnia. Kidding!

Today was our Opening Day of Session 2026, and while it is a short session, it feels like a very short session with only 63 days to conduct our legislative business.

We have only one more week until the start of the 2026 legislative session, and schedules are already packed with screening bills, attending breakfasts, meeting with advocates and stakeholders, and generally gearing up for a very short session—only 63 business days!

I am sure we are all anticipating snowmageddon this weekend, and I hope you’ll heed the ultimate warnings to stay off the roads.
