In the wake of the tragedy, people have often marked the day by committing random acts of kindness and perhaps that’s something you might consider doing as you go about your daily life tomorrow.

Frequently, our work is connecting our constituents to resources at the state level that may help solve a problem they are having. Often, we meet with constituents, advocates, and associations/organizations to hear the challenges they are facing and how there may be a legislative solution that could be proposed in the next session.

While we continue to pursue funding to get people off the streets and frankly, in some cases, out of the woods, our homeless providers in the Greater Hartford area could use our help.

The e-news is packed this week with consumer pricing information on electricity, a warning about a new Apple phone feature, information on Access Health, and holiday happenings around the district.

Happy Thanksgiving! As we enter the holiday season, I hope that your table is filled with family and friends and that you find more to be grateful for than not.

Giving is what the season we are in is about. While I share more below about how I spent part of my day today, I want to tell you here, we are in the middle of a homelessness humanitarian crisis in Connecticut. That may sound hyperbolic but to give you some perspective, in the last seven weeks, the number of unhoused individuals across the state has gone from 500 to 1,500, many of them over the age of 55 and disabled, and families with very young children.

While every day is a good day to thank our veterans for their service, we set aside November 11 as the day to remember all of our veterans and to be grateful that they went where many would not choose to go.

The Veterans & Military Affairs Committee is hosting an informational hearing on Wednesday, November 8, at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, Room 2C, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
