Earlier this summer, I underwent surgery to remove a tumor on my kidney and repair an abdominal hernia. During the surgery, complications arose. Surgeons made an emergency decision to remove the entire kidney. The tumor that was removed, however, was cancerous. Thankfully it was caught at Stage 1. A full, cancer-free recovery is expected but my surgery was not the byproduct of doctors reacting to test results.

Connecticut's annual summer Sales Tax-Free Week on clothing is back, and this year it runs from Sunday August 18 through Saturday August 24.

Nominations are now open for the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame class of 2024. Consider nominating a Veteran you know for this year's class. The nominating period runs until September 15. An official induction ceremony will be held later in the year.

Connecticut is about to experience very hot and humid temperatures during the coming days, so the state's Extreme Hot Weather Protocol will be activated at noon on Tuesday and remain in effect through noon on Sunday.

As part of the Manchester Delegation in the Connecticut General Assembly, I welcome the approval of millions of dollars in funding for the town by the State Bond Commission on Friday.

The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) recently announced grant awards for public schools across Connecticut through the HVAC Indoor Air Quality Grants Program, including Illing Middle School in Manchester, to make upgrades to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. 

I'm proud to say we passed a bipartisan spending stabilization plan that will ensure our two-year state budget's historic tax cuts are protected, and we invest in the priorities that matter to you.

April is Financial Literacy Month. Financial literacy is an empowerment tool and a foundational part of building a successful life. In 2023, the Connecticut General Assembly passed a bipartisan bill that requires students to complete a half-credit course in personal financial management and financial literacy in order to graduate from Connecticut public high schools. It also adds personal financial management and financial literacy to the state’s required program of instruction for public schools.
