Weekly Update & Local Happenings: November 18
November 18, 2022A recent report detailed that throughout Connecticut there was an increase of 13% in overall homelessness from 2021 to 2022.
My legislative colleagues and I are actively working on solutions ahead of the upcoming winter season. Most recently, as part of the state budget adjustment passed during the 2022 legislative session, we included $5 million for the Connecticut Department of Housing (CTDOH) for eviction prevention.

October 21, 2022This week, I had the great opportunity to attend the Purple Flag Raising in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month at the State Capitol.
Through my work as a Police Officer I have seen firsthand the fear that survivors experience, not only for their own safety, but for that of their children. We know that domestic violence is all about control, coercion, and isolation - it leaves many victims feeling helpless.

October 14, 2022UniteCT, which provides rent and utility assistance for households financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, has been allocated an additional $11 million from the U.S. Department of the Treasury to supplement more than $400 million in federal funding previously allocated for the program that helps keep families safely housed.
