I am grateful for the friends I’ve made through my advocacy efforts as your State Representative. This past weekend, I was invited to serve as a panelist at the Connecticut Association of the Deaf's (CAD) Legislative 101 Workshop that took place at the American School for the Deaf.  CAD President Luisa Soboleski is a resident and member of Southington’s Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Community.

This week, I attended a press conference at Oshana Elementary School, at which fifth-grade student Cristiano Almeida was announced as the 2024 Connecticut Kid Governor.

It was great to stop down and congratulate Frank and Nick LaRosa on the opening of their restaurant, Noto Americano, in Plantsville.

Saturday is Veterans Day. I want to thank all Veterans for their service. As a member of the Veterans' and Military Affairs Committee, we held a public information hearing on Wednesday to help us prepare for the 2024 Legislative Session and we heard in-person and remote testimony from Veterans and advocates about a wide range of issues affecting them

This week, I had an excellent visit to the Nesso Group on Canal Street, which hosted a local business networking event promoted by the Southington Chamber of Commerce. It was great to catch up with Chamber friends, tour the facility, and learn about the Nesso Group and the broad array of integrated insurance and financial services it offers. The business’ beautiful workspace, top-notch operation, and talented leadership team were quite impressive. 

Great news! The Housing Advisory Panel voted on Friday to approve one-time grant funding awards as part of the Interest on Real Estate Brokers Trust Account (IOREBTA) Program, which includes $20,000 for The ARC of Southington.

Southington is so lucky to have Trish Kenefick! It was an absolute honor to recognize her 33 years of leadership at this week’s Reb Ribbon Rally, our townwide initiative encouraging young people to make the commitment to stay drug free.

Today, I had the great honor of joining Governor Ned Lamont, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Education Commissioner Charlene Russell-Tucker, Principal Chris Palmieri, local officials, students, and teachers at DePaolo Middle School for the announcement of Dawn Dickau as the 2024 Anne Marie Murphy Paraeducator of the Year. Fellow Education Committee Member State Representative Francis Cooley and I presented Dawn with a citation and congratulated her on her accomplishment.
