I testified in favor of Paid Family Medical Leave with constituent Jessica Weaver - several surrounding states have already passed a Paid Family Medical Leave program including Massachusetts and New York - these are States we are losing many of our youth and needed human capital.

I testified today with Newington Town Mayor Roy Zartarian and Representative Kerry Wood (D-Newington, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield) in the Transportation Committee in favor of the development of a new commuter rail station in the town of Newington.

Beginning in February, elderly taxpayers may apply for tax relief by filing an application with the Town Assessor. 

It was great to join today with colleagues in the House and Senate to talk about our legislative priorities that include Paid Family and Medical Leave, Increasing the Minimum Wage, More Affordable Prescription Drugs, Job Training & Workforce Pipeline, A Green New Deal for Connecticut, Support for Small Businesses and Early Voting.

We are working hard to make it easier to do business in Connecticut.

We had a great event in Newington listening to ideas and answering questions. This is Democracy at its best when we can get together as a community and collaboratively share ideas for improving our state.

For over a month, many federal employees have been reporting to work and performing their duties - without pay. The government shutdown affects at least 1,500 Connecticut workers and they are struggling to pay their bills while they wait for their paychecks to resume.
