Aerospace Company to Create Jobs in Farmington
April 25, 2016It was recently announced that Italian aerospace company Pietro Rose TBM has acquired New England Airfoil Products in Farmington, and will be retaining the company’s current workforce as well as adding 100 positions over the next five years.
Protecting Connecticut's Honeybees
April 22, 2016Yesterday I joined my colleagues in support of legislation that would protect honeybees. As pollinators, bees are crucial to our environment. SB 231 would protect Connecticut's pollinators by encouraging the preservation of their habitats while limiting the use of pesticides that are linked to the decline of honeybees.
Hill-Stead Museum Awarded Grant
April 13, 2016Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington was recently awarded a $50,000 grant through Connecticut Humanities. The grant will help fund the Museum’s Sunken Garden Poetry Festival.
Services for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities
April 12, 2016This legislative session, an important bill that will help individuals with intellectual disabilities is being considered. I've co-sponsored SB 294, An Act Concerning Services for Individuals With Intellectual Disability, to ensure that people with intellectual disabilities who have requested social services are properly informed and updated on the status of their request.
Open Choice 50th Anniversary Celebration
April 7, 2016Earlier this week, I attended the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Hartford Region Open Choice Program hosted by the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC). The event commemorated the contributions of the founding districts: Farmington, Simsbury, South Windsor, and West Hartford.
