Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I hope you have a fun and safe Memorial Day with family and friends. As we begin the exciting transition to summer and enjoy a weekend full of picnics and barbecues, I hope you will also take a moment to remember why we celebrate this day.

Last week, the CDC released new guidance for fully vaccinated individuals. In accordance with these guidelines, the State of Connecticut has announced that as of May 19, fully vaccinated individuals will no longer need to wear masks or face coverings indoors or outdoors.

With summer just around the corner, Governor Lamont announced great news for the children and families of Connecticut. Connecticut residents ages 12 through 15 are now eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

The pandemic has made is clear that we need to make sure everyone has access to high-speed internet. We are currently working on legislation to reduce the costs of internet service, make it more reliable and faster, and increase consumer protections. HB 6442, which was proposed by the Governor, was recently approved by both the Energy and Technology Committee and the Appropriations Committee and now heads to the floor of the House.

Speaker of the House Matt Ritter announced that the House of Representatives will be acting on legislation that sets the stage to allow for early voting and no-excuse absentee ballots in Connecticut in order to increase voter participation in our elections.

This pandemic has taught us a lot about the critical need for accessible and affordable health insurance. With support from funding included in the American Rescue Plan, starting May 1, Access Health CT will open a special enrollment period for residents to take advantage of additional subsidies.

On Monday, Governor Ned Lamont announced new, exciting changes to the state's COVID-19 guidelines for businesses. Over the coming weeks, the state will continue to cautiously and safely phase out business restrictions moving towards a complete removal of restrictions on May 19.
