On my weekly public affairs show, “Let’s Talk About It,” we previewed some fun and important events happening in our community this summer including the 38th Annual Boom Box Parade and a walking tour of Saint Joseph Cemetery.

The federal government has awarded $334,789 to the Connecticut Fire Academy to improve the safety and effectiveness of firefighters across our state. The Connecticut Fire Academy is responsible for providing a state-of-the-art training at several locations including the Eastern Connecticut Fire School in Willimantic.

Windham is set to receive $240,000 in state funds to cleanup and revitalize two empty buildings in town with the hope of economic development and job growth.

On my weekly public affairs show, “Let’s Talk About It,” we learned how small businesses can get help with health insurance, and we dug deeper into how Windham is benefiting from our work during the legislative session.

Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Windham Mayor Tom DeVivo joined my weekly public affairs show, “Let’s Talk About It,” to dig deeper into the importance of protecting our elderly population and early voting.

I am pleased to announce that the Connecticut General Assembly has a Mental Health Caucus of which I am a part. The Mental Health Caucus will continue to move our initiatives forward in our great state.
