Summer is coming to a close and kids will soon be heading back to school. To help working families prepare – and save – Connecticut offers its annual Sales Tax Free Week. Earlier this week I shared a re-cap with some information about the state budget and legislation impacting workforce development and economic growth. Today I would like to highlight some other important legislation.

The regular session ended last week with a balanced budget and a number of significant pieces of legislation poised to be signed into law.

We have an obligation to make sure that everyone feels safe and secure in the workplace, free of sexual harassment and sexual assault.

House passes HB 7200, which would prohibit the sale of cigarettes, tobacco products, electronic nicotine delivery systems, and vapor products to persons under twenty-one.

I am glad we are working towards bringing our election system into the 21st century by establishing an early voting process where more residents can exercise this right.

Applications are being accepted now through May 10 for scholarships to be awarded in July for the 2019-2020 academic year.

CT has successfully fought the battle against smoking – youth smoking rates are way down. But, just over the past three years, high school aged vaping rates have DOUBLED.
