This weekend is the 12th anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre.
A date that never gets easier. So many lives were affected on this day in 2012, and many continue to struggle with the trauma that followed. This day was the impetus of much of my past legislation, from mental health resources to school safety, trauma response, and more.
I send continual love and light to the victims' families, the survivors of that horrible day, the responding law enforcement and the entire Newtown and Connecticut community. Though time has passed, you will never be forgotten.
I hope you consider joining my family in participating in the annual Acts of Kindness during the month of December to honor those lives we lost, to bring back some light to the world during this difficult anniversary. Any simple act of kindness will do.
