I applaud the passage of a proposal that will require students, starting with classes graduating in 2027, to take a half-credit course on personal financial management and financial literacy.

I fully support a new proposal that would include wage hikes for early childcare providers. The Office of Childhood has agreed to a successor contract with the bargaining unit comprised of childcare providers. The deal incentivizes quality of care through a tiered rate structure that encourages providers to obtain a license.

My colleagues and I welcomed several top-ranking officials from Taiwan to celebrate our fruitful sister-state relationship dating back to 1999. The Connecticut General Assembly recognized the state’s long history of diplomacy and friendship with Taiwan. We also established a Taiwan Friendship Caucus.

I continue to be a strong advocate for nonprofits including AdvanceCT. That organization works to engage, retain, and recruit businesses as well as advance overall economic competitiveness in Connecticut.

My colleagues and I are celebrating the passage of House Bill 6909, which reflects the interests of the overwhelming majority of Latin Americans in our state and the rest of the world.

I applaud the commitment and creativity the governor’s office is making to fund the Baby Bonds Program. This first-of-its-kind statewide policy is designed to invest directly in Connecticut children born into poverty while simultaneously narrowing the generational and racial wealth gaps in our state.

I am proud to have co-hosted the Student → Manufacturers Connection Fair at the State Capitol. Students from all over the state, including Kaynor Technical High School in Waterbury, learned about the opportunities in the manufacturing industry.

I strongly support the early voting bill that passed the House of Representatives on Thursday. Early voting will give more people flexibility to cast a ballot in Waterbury and the rest of the state.
