With the end of the legislative session today, I want to highlight some bills that passed both the House and Senate that are expected to be signed into law by Gov. Ned Lamont. 

From the moment I took the oath of office, I made a promise to the people of Danbury: to fight for the resources our city deserves and for too long was denied.

One of my top priorities going into the legislative session this year was to help lower the cost of housing for both homeowners and renters. This priority grew out of hearing loud and clear after knocking on thousands of doors campaigning last year.

It’s been a busy and productive time at the Capitol as we head toward the end of the legislative session on June 4. My focus remains on supporting legislation that makes a meaningful, positive difference for the people of Danbury.

We had another productive week at the State Capitol, with a number of important bills passed, as well as work being done as the end of the session is in sight. This week I met with the New England Refreshment Services Association, including the owners of Berkshire Food Inc., which calls Danbury home.

Another couple of Session Days at the Capitol this week, where we took up several key bills — including SB 1426, which provides important updates to the Firefighters Cancer Relief Program we passed a few years ago.

On Wednesday, I joined Mayor Roberto Alves, Gov. Ned Lamont, Attorney General William Tong, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and the Connecticut Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity for a roundtable discussion on Connecticut’s approach to national immigration enforcement trends.

During our legislative session Wednesday, I proudly voted to confirm David Arconti, a strong leader, to the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).
