Over the course of the pandemic, I, like all of you, have read many articles about the virus, what we can do and what lies ahead. Sometimes one strikes you, whether for the data or for the perspective.

As I write this afternoon, there are thunderstorms on the horizon. 2020 has been a stormy year, both figuratively and literally.

Those of us who are parents of school aged children were surprised this morning with the much anticipated news of “cohort” assignments.

I hope this message finds you with electricity in your homes. As of 6:15 Monday evening, 356 homes remain without power. I know it has been a long week for so many and we will talk more about this storm and the response, including both a PURA and legislative investigation.

Some of you may be reading this by candlelight Abraham Lincoln style. As of this writing, 47% of the town is still without power. Earlier today, First Selectwoman Kupchick invited members of the state delegation to participate in the Emergency Operation Command meeting.

Hurricane season hit hard yesterday and today we are beginning what is likely to be a protracted recovery. Below is information as of mid-afternoon on Wednesday. Given what I have learned, much patience and cooperation will be needed in the coming days. Please reach out if you need assistance.

Earlier today the House leadership announced that the House will be called into session on Thursday at 11:00 am. Much attention has been given to the bill on police accountability, but there will be three other bills on Telehealth, Insulin costs and access to No-Excuse Absentee Balloting.
