The Connecticut General Assembly is scheduled to return for the regular legislative session the first week of February and in preparation, I plan to hold Office Hours and Town Hall events to meet directly with constituents to better inform myself on what is important to the residents of Northeastern Connecticut. I have been spending time this fall meeting with local businesses, municipal leaders, hospital administration, schools, and organizations to better connect the needs of our region with the government bureaucracy in Hartford.

State Representative Pat Boyd (D – Pomfret, Brooklyn, Eastford, Union, Woodstock) received a 100 percent score from the Connecticut Business and Industry Association for his votes during the 2021 legislative session on key legislation to grow the economy and promote job growth during the state's post-pandemic recovery. The CBIA is the largest association representing the business community in the State of Connecticut.

Moderate House Democrats (“The Blue Dogs”) applaud Governor Lamont’s stance on No Tax Increases for the current biennial budget. The State of Connecticut should take advantage of higher than expected consensus revenue, a health rainy day fund, and its strong financial position to pass a budget that does not include tax increases.

Armed service member's children can face many challenges as they relocate schools due to a change in a parent's duty station. With the passage of HB 6483, CT removes a hurdle by allowing military orders to be accepted as proof of residency for public school enrollment, and adopts "the Purple Star School Program," to ensure military-friendly schools.

State Rep. Boyd is calling upon U.S. Senators Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal to include COVID-19 relief for town/endowed schools not eligible for Title I funding.

State Rep. Pat Boyd recently penned a letter urging the Public Utility Regulatory Authority to prohibit Eversource from recovering costs associated with Tropical Storm Isaias.
